Mapping a TA project to a TFS project

Mapping a TestArchitect project to a TFS team project allows you to upload test results to TFS.

Ensure that the following requirements are met:
To map a TA project to a TFS project under Visual Studio Team Services, do the following:
  1. In the TestArchitect explorer tree, double-click the TestArchitect project that is to be mapped to a TFS project. The given Project tab appears in the editor.
  2. In the Source field, select one of the following options to map to a given TFS project:
    • Option #1: The format must be in the form of DefaultCollection, followed by a backslash (\), followed by the (case insensitive) TFS Team Project name. You can obtain this information from within Visual Studio from the Connect to Team Foundation Server dialog box. (Refer to your Visual Studio Help to learn how to access this dialog box.)

For example, to point to the TFS CarRental project shown below, you would enter DefaultCollection\CarRental into the Source field of the Project panel.

    • Option #2: Since Visual Studio Team Services merges the Account and Collection concepts, causing Default Collection to disappear from the account URL (learn more), only the (case insensitive) TFS Team Project name is necessary.

For example, to point to the TFS CarRental project, you would enter CarRental into the Source field of the Project panel.

    • Option #3: The format is in the form of your_account name, extracted from hyperlink https://{youraccount}.visualstudio.com, followed by a backslash (\), followed by the (case insensitive) TFS Team Project name.

For example, to point to the TFS CarRental project located on https://fabrikam.visualstudio.com, you would enter fabrikam\CarRental into the Source field of the Project panel.

  3. Click Apply.
  4. In the Team Foundation Server Authentication dialog box, select your desired type of credentials from the Authentication Mode box.
    • On-premises: Learn more.
    • Visual Studio Team Services: Select one of the following options:
      • Alternate Authentication Credentials: Enter the alternate user name and password that you have specified for Visual Studio Team Services alternate credentials.

      • Personal Access Tokens: Enter the token that you have created for Visual Studio Team Services Personal Access Tokens.

    Note:
    • This dialog box is only displayed the first time you connect to the TFS server and map a project. It does not appear again unless there is a change in the TFS server or user account/password.
    • If necessary, you have the option of switching from the current credentials to different ones. (Learn more.)
  5. Click OK. If authentication succeeds, a confirmation dialog box to that effect is displayed.
  6. Click OK to close the confirmation dialog box.
