DCIM Software Solution Provider

Business Needs
and Challenges
Our client is an international developer of open enterprise-class Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software solutions. Their DCIM offers a software solution that delivers an unparalleled view of physical ecosystem assets, systems, and workflows, presenting entire infrastructures in a way that is easy to both understand and manage.
The Solution
After consultations between LogiGear and the client, the LogiGear team designed a testing procedure with overall objectives being (1) limit the issues that happen on scheduled releases and (2) address any bugs found. The project included numerous test types including sanity testing, integration testing, database testing, regression testing, API testing, and performance testing; the vast array of test types can be attributed to the aforementioned extensive number of supported platforms and client components owned by the client. Both the client and the LogiGear team wanted to ensure proper functionality of the DCIM, thus, extensive testing was necessary.

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions Inc. is a defense and communications technology company in the forefront of addressing the United States and its allies' National Security priorities in areas such as unmanned systems, satellite communications, microwave electronics, cyber security, and other needs. For any new releases, whether major, minor, or maintenance releases, the amount of time to regression test the release could be as much as six weeks using multiple engineers to manually test the product.
The Solution
After researching several companies, LogiGear was selected, in large part based upon its track record helping their clientele to achieve end-to-end integration testing with the type of complex systems/configurations Kratos had in their Santa Clara office. Given that LogiGear is also based in Silicon Valley, it would also be able to provide on-site expertise.
Remarks
“We are now able to run Automated Tests on every check-in, nightly, and over the weekend. The Automated Tests cover in 24 hours what used to take us several weeks to run manually.”

- Chris Dunn, General Manager, Product Development, Kratos

(Product Enhancement Toolkit)

Business Needs
and Challenges
Halliburton’s product enhancement (PE) software technology organization develops critical internal enterprise software. The business unit’s two major software products are developed on a Windows platform using the .NET framework. This software is extremely complex with a rich user interface, vast source code, and N-Tier architecture. Software defects have the potential to impact the product quality, thus impacting Halliburton’s ability to provide services to global customers. In order to minimize that risk, extensive testing is performed for every update.
The Solution
LogiGear started the automation effort by creating custom actions in the TestArchitect action library that were unique to PE software. The PE project manager provided domain expertise that helped LogiGear identify an application type of low-level actions that PE testers could then use to assemble a high caliber of business level actions. At the same time, the PE team worked to customize MTM and TestArchitect so that there would be a seamless workflow between the two tools. The objective was to provide testers with a self-serve model that would allow the running of any combination of automated and/or manual tests as needed from within MTM.
Remarks
“LogiGear supplied the automation technology and customized services that were instrumental for us to achieve continuous integration”

-Cheronda Bright, QA Manager At Halliburton

Business Needs

SEPTech needed a comprehensive, yet flexible tool, combined with a powerful issues management system to measure and evaluate software quality based on trend analytics. In order to manage multi-user systems, SEPTech also needed capabilities to efficiently test with multiple browsers, and various mobile OS, and PC apps. Another important requirement was that the solution had to be fulfilled in a cost-effective and timely manner in order to create both a robust, and dependable service offering for SEPTech’s clientele.
After looking to build this in-house, and evaluating open-source and proprietary tools on the market, SEPTech found their solution in TestArchitect.
The Solution
TestArchitect™ enabled SEP Technology Consulting to create a powerful test toolkit and libraries for its COTS specializations, significantly reducing the time spent to create & maintain automated tests for its clients, equating to a faster product release and reduced delivery risks & delays.
Remarks
Prior to adopting TestArchitect as our primary test automation platform, we performed QA manually and tried using other test automation tools, such as, Selenium and HPQC. We found it challenging to provide a full testing suite including full end-to-end testing, entitlements testing and interface testing without employing an army of testers at a high cost and facing the difficulty of finding Java developers. By adopting TestArchitect we have been able to reduce our costs by 75%. Most importantly though, TestArchitect has empowered us to implement automated test cases, thereby incrementally mirroring our development methodologies.
